Course Description: This is one of two introductory painting courses, either of which fulfills the Art Core Painting requirement for Art majors, building directly on the knowledge base of the Art Foundation courses. Painting I introduces students to watercolor and water-based media with an emphasis on direct observation, composition, color and drawing.

Early projects are geared towards direct observation and color study while the second half consists of assignments that are creative and concept driven.  Framing and matting are requirements for the class to ensure students acquire the proper skills in regards to presenting work in a professional manner.
